The Nigeria Police Force recently said it had recovered 19 exotic cars from former Inspector-General Solomon Arase
- Arase however reportedly said he is not alone but that his predecessors also took cars with them
Photographs have emerged of some of the 19 cars and SUVs reportedly recovered from former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase.
Sahara Reporters had earlier reported the recovery of the vehicles was the result of an order by the current IGP Ibrahim Idris that an investigation should be carried out into the purchase and distribution of vehicles by his predecessors.
The probe is reportedly being handled by the Special Investigation Panel (SIP) which is headed by retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Ali Amodu.
Arase, on his part, reportedly said he was not alone but that his own predecessors also took cars along with them upon retiring.
The former Inspector-General said even though he knew that the last two IGs before him went away with 13 and 9 police vehicles respectively when leaving office, his administration did not ask for the return of these cars.
The report said some of the vehicles include sedans, Sports Utility Vehicles and pick-up vans.
